Happy Wine Wednesday Fellow Pour Decision-Makers!

This week we’ve got some phenomenal wines lined up for you! From the sun-drenched Rhône Valley to the refined elegance of Champagne and the alpine freshness of Northern Italy, these three wines each tell a unique story through their flavors.

🍑 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2022 – A beautifully floral and fruit-forward Rhône white, offering ripe peach, citrus, and crisp minerality. Perfect for warm days or when you need a little sunshine in a glass.

🍾 Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé NV – A classic Champagne with delicate mousse, silky finesse, and crisp, lingering fruit. Subtle floral notes and minerality make it an elegant choice for celebrations or refined sipping.

🌿 Cantina Terlan Sauvignon Blanc 2022 – A vibrant, textured Sauvignon Blanc with bright acidity, tropical fruit, and a touch of salinity. Its balance of pungency and creaminess makes it a standout among the world’s great Sauvignon Blancs.

Which one are you reaching for this week? 🍷

Selected by Jesse Drury

Producer: E Guigal
Year: 2022
Varietal: Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache blanc
Price: $17.99

Color: White
Location: France, Rhone Valley, Côtes du Rhône

Tasting notes: Ripe stone fruit dominant, citrus and honeysuckle lift, crisp minerality. Sometimes when you are thirsty and you bite into a big overripe juicy peach, it is somehow more refreshing than water. That's what this is like. It's perfect for a hot summer day or to remind you of the sun during the cold.
Nose: White flowers, peach, apricot
Food pairing: Grilled shrimp, bouillabaisse, roasted chicken, goat cheese, vegetable quiche

What makes this wine special?
During my trainings, I seemed to have avoided having rhone whites for a long long time. Now that I've been introduced to them, I just can't get enough. I'm over sharp minerality and vanilla bombs, I like this. Flowery and fruity.

Additional information
A versatile white wine that fits any occasion. It’s a great choice to start with, especially if you plan on enjoying reds later.

Selected by Yashvee Beeharry

Producer: Billecart Salmon Rose
Year: NV
Varietal: Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir
Price: $94.95

Color: Rose
Location: France, Champagne, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ
Additional tags: Sparkling

Tasting notes: Silky and refined, with delicate mousse. Crisp, refreshing, and dry with lingering fruit and minerality.
Nose: Subtle rose and citrus blossom. A touch of chalky minerality.
Food pairing: Works beautifully with light dishes like salmon, sushi, or sashimi.

What makes this wine special?
Overall, it’s appreciated for its finesse, making it an excellent choice for both casual sipping and special occasions.

Selected by Seth Tan

Producer: Cantina Terlan
Year: 2022
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Price: $94.99

Color: White (medium straw yellow)
Location: Italy, Northern Italy, Trentino-Alto-Adige

Tasting notes: Bright acidity on the palate that leads to salivation, whipping up an appetite with notes of citrus fruits like lemon, lime, hints of tropical fruits like guava, and grapefruit with the slight bitterness oil and astringency. Pungency and greenness like vegetal notes of grass, green mango, and papaya. Aging on lees for 9 months in big oak barrels, there is some form of creaminess and roundedness mid-palate to finish, giving the wine more textured mouthfeel and body. Coupling pungency and creaminess, there are similarities to durian flesh and jackfruit skin though less apparent than on the nose. Sprinkle of salinity and minerality too.
Nose: Pungency like gooseberry, greenness like grass, but also reminisces Asian tropical fruits like the skin of the jackfruit and the flesh of durian. Some indications of minerals like wet stones and citrusy characteristics like lemon and lime.
Food pairing: Asian: Taiwanese Oyster Mee Sua with garlic, coriander, and touch of black vinegar | Western: Spaghetti alle vongole bianco

What makes this wine special?
Other than the two factions of Sauvignon Blanc most classically known - Loire, France, and Marlborough, New Zealand, there are a great deal of amazing Sauvignon Blancs around the world, and this is one of them. It is slightly more textured than Marlborough's, and has riper fruity characters than Loire's, becoming an interesting style of its own.
