🍷 Wine Wednesday

Exclusive Discount by Last Bubbles

This week, we’re bringing the flavor from all corners—crisp, ellegant Champagne, bold and brooding Tannat from Uruguay, and a Rhône red with serious finesse. Whether you're in the mood to pop bottles, fire up the grill, or just kick back with something delicious, these wines deliver big character, unique stories, and a whole lot of sipping satisfaction.

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs NV – This Champagne is elegance in a glass. 100% Chardonnay, aged in ancient chalk cellars, and bursting with salty citrus, roasted hazelnuts, and a whisper of brioche. It’s as refined as it is refreshing—perfect with halibut or fish tacos, or whenever you need to celebrate the everyday.

Bodega Garzón Tannat 2021 – Bold, structured, and unapologetically muscular, this Uruguayan red is packed with ripe black fruit, spice, and chewy tannins. It's a total flavor bomb that shines with rich dishes like beef brisket or spicy rendang. A deep dive into South America's unsung wine hero.

Mas Mellet Pari Finesse 2021 – A classic Rhône blend with a wild side. Think firm structure, ripe fruit, and savory herbs, wrapped in organic farming and female winemaking finesse. It’s got enough swagger for burgers or barbecue but still elegant enough for a proper dinner party.

Three wines, three styles—from chalk cellars to South American spice. Which one’s pouring next at your table? 🍷

Tasting notes:
A pure expression of the terroir that makes Champagne unique, a defined undercurrent of salt and chalk runs through the palate, propped up by notes of poached pear, dried apricot and toasted brioche.

Salty sea breeze, lemon peel, roasted hazelnuts, honey, cinnamon, and ginger.

Food pairing:
Halibut with caper and butter sauce or Baja-style fish tacos.

What makes this wine special?
From the legendary house, founded by none other than, 'Champagne Charlie', this bottling is a prime example of chardonnay's unique ability to translate terroir, especially after a lengthy aging in 2,000-year old chalk cellars.

Producer: Bodega Garzon
Year: 2021
Varietal: Tannat
Price: $20.50

Color: Red (deep red with purple hues)
Location: Uruguay

From the expert, Seth Tan

Tasting notes:
Deep purplish, opaque colours, with staining tannins. Full of ripe black and blue fruit characters, hint of spice (vanilla), some herbal notes (bay leaf), medium acidity, full bodied, strong ripe tannins. Muscular and bold, structured with rather sticky tannins that coats the teeth, makes you salivate, and feels like chewing. Dry but the roundedness, fruitiness and ripeness of the fruit characters do indicate a pinch of residual sugar.

Nose:
Fully ripen blue and black fruits, like ripe blueberry, blackberry, black plums, mulberry, cassis. Some spices and herbal characters.

Food pairing:
Asian: Rendang - stewed beef with Southeast Asian spice paste (rempah), coconut milk, lemon leaf, palm sugar, galangal (South Asian ginger)

Western: Beef Brisket - smoked and braised with spice rub (cajun spices, garlic etc)"

What makes this wine special?
Tannat though originated in the Southern France, with Madiran as its stronghold, it has thus far been outshone by the other major regions like Bordeaux and Bourgogne. However, it has found a home in Uruguay, and has since become a namesake varietal of Uruguay, putting Uruguay on the wine radar. Showcasing this bottle to put Tannat in the limelight, and possibilities of South American viticulture, especially Uruguay!

Lovely woman winemaker with a classic rhone food friendly blend.
