Welcome to this week’s Pour Decisions, where we spotlight three exceptional bottles with distinct character and depth. From a classic Barolo with hidden complexity to an electrifying Albariño and a legendary Napa Cabernet, this lineup is pure indulgence. ✨
First up, the 2017/2019 Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo. 🇮🇹🌹 A Nebbiolo that unfolds like a well-kept secret, this wine starts with subtle power before revealing layers of blackberry, cranberry, clove, and firm tannins. The nose is an intoxicating mix of rose petals, cedar box, and cigar tobacco, making it the perfect pairing for filet mignon, wild game, or decadent triple-cream cheeses. Give it some air, and watch it transform into something truly mesmerizing.
Next, the 2022 Forjas del Salnés "Leirana Finca Genoveva" Albariño. 🇪🇸🍊 This organic Albariño from Rías Baixas is a pure expression of its terroir, bursting with vibrant citrus, orchard fruits, and a refined floral edge. On the nose, expect fresh quince, tangerine, and lemongrass. It shines alongside grilled shrimp, oysters, and lemon-roasted chicken, but also complements creamy risottos and herbaceous pastas. A 96+ rating from Robert Parker says it all—this is Albariño at its finest.
Finally, the 2001 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select. 🇺🇸🍇 A true Napa Valley legend, this Stags Leap District Cabernet is velvety, structured, and intensely layered with deep dark fruits, cassis, and hints of tobacco and anise. It’s a wine that commands attention, perfect for sipping solo or paired with a luxurious A5 New York strip loin. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime bottle, this is it.
Three wines, three unforgettable experiences. Which one will you uncork first? 🍾 Cheers! 🎉
